Grace Tong provides strategic patent counseling, prepares and prosecutes patent applications, and performs validity and infringement analysis. Representative technologies handled by Ms. Tong include digital signal processing, wireless communications, computer networks, Internet services, computer hardware and software, data compression, databases, computer graphics and 3-D film animation, holography, data storage, and semiconductor chips.
Prior to joining Van Pelt, Yi & James, Ms. Tong was a patent attorney in the Patent Counseling and Prosecution Group of Morrison & Foerster. Ms. Tong has over ten years of R&D experience in Silicon Valley startups, having worked as an engineer in the fields of digital signal processing, embedded systems and Internet networking and routing protocols.
Ms. Tong received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, graduating first in class, and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
